"You got to know when to hold ‘em,
know when to fold ‘em
Know when to walk away
And know when to run.
You never count your money
when you’re sitting at the table.
There’ll be time enough for countin’
when the dealin’s done."
The Gambler Sung by Kenny Rogers
PURPOSE OF BUY, HOLD AND SELL DISCIPLINE:
This section provides Buy, Hold and Sell Disciplines that you may want to employ.
Since 75% of a stock’s move is related to the market (50%) and its sector (25%), the market guidelines segment of this page apply whether stocks are bought as Individual Stocks, Stock Mutual Funds or Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs).
HOWEVER, if you are a Mutual Fund investor, you probably will not be an aggressive seller of your Mutual Funds or index ETFs when the market indicators are in a sell mode. BUT you can still benefit from the Market Buy and Sell Disciplines by not buying funds when the market indicators are in a sell mode—more on this on the Mutual Fund Picks page.
